ARC2012 Diary: Day 16 – Wednesday

I awoke to panicked calls at 5am ‘Tim, Tim I need you up here now!’ Something bad had happened, and sounds of banging made me shudder. I came on deck and took my instructions. It turned out the boat had jibed, snapping a block, rendering the preventer useless. The boom was now free to swing  violently from side to side. The boat was brought under control, and the preventer attached to a cleat on the foredeck. Apart from the block breaking, everything else was in order.
